To Bee or not to Bee

If your on my blog, you know I am a Mead Brewer, and the main ingredient in Mead is Honey, so my dream of having my some honey bee's has been a long term dream for years, and this Valentines Day my Honey (AKA Sarah Jill) gave me my first starter hive in the form of a Honey Hive Deep Starter set.

My love of course went insane after that and bought all the books, (which I read, because I'm that nerd) and she bought me some medium supers and another deep and I went to my good buddy who I get my honey normally from Robert Clower of Clower Honey Farms and he hooked me up with Ames Honey Farm where I got my nuec and we started our Hives in the back yard.

Our Apiary is of course called Hays Manor and our first hive is named Slains Castle, and the queen that resides there is Jill in honor of my Gorgeous Wife that made this all possible. Our Second Hive will be named Stirling Castle after the breath taking castle of my kindred in Scotland.

So far we have done well. The boys love getting suited up and inspecting the hive. The norm is that you will not get honey your first year of being a Bee Husband, but ours are going crazy in our little town of Van, Texas.

We have had one sting in all of this time, and that one was on my son Ian, who I passed a frame for him to hold when I was changing frames and he did not have gloves on because he was shooting video for me. He did not even wavier as you can see in this video.

All in all we love our bee's and are looking forward to expanding and brewing of our own Honey Mead as out ancestors did. Once again the drive of a loving wife makes all possible.

Stay tuned to more bee experiences.
